This is a great book that is filled to overflowing with insight, depth, and understanding that truly, Love is the answer. I mean, we've all heard this but we often feel that there has got to be something more...but what could be more than Love?
We somehow think (and feel) that Love is lightweight, that it is merely a sentiment, that it has no real substance. But when we reduce the signifigance of Love, we reduce the signifigance of Life itself. I have heard it said that where there is Love, there is Life and where there is Life, there is Love and that is so very True. When we allow Love to empower us, strengthen us, and guide us we are, truly, living our lives.
So how do we go from fear to Love? By choosing. We choose Love. We choose empowerment. We choose strength. We choose to tap into the Real Power that is always at the center of our being because when we begin to choose from a more enlightened perspective, we begin to remember that not only is Love ever present and ever available, Love is who and what we are.
I remember when I first heard the statement that I was Love made manifest. I wanted to cry my eyes out. There was a part of me that wanted to scream and yell and deny that this was true, but there was a bigger part of me that deeply remembered that this was somehow True; that all this stuff I had "made up" about Life was simply made up...it was never really real because Love and only Love is real.
This book will help you to see a little more clearly, breathe a little easier, and feel a little calmer. Of course, you must be willing to take the information and translate it into a daily practice and you can...I can...we can...and when we transform our lives through Love, the world will transform, as well and then, finally, we can really begin to live.

From Publisher
An inspirational classic since 1979, LOVE IS LETTING GO OF FEAR remains one of the seminal works in the transpersonal movement. Psychiatrist Dr. Gerald Jampolsky’s timeless message may be timelier today than ever: the only thing that stands between us and the awesome energy of love is fear. To live without fear, we must stop analyzing it, stop agonizing over it, stop fighting with it, and simply . . . let it go. How? By releasing our paralyzing preoccupation with the past and our chronic apprehension over the future- which is, needless to say, easier said than done.
To help us in this difficult journey from fear to love, Dr. Jampolsky presents tools in the form of 12 daily, progressive lessons for personal transformation. These crucial lessons work through the concepts of giving, forgiveness, cause and effect, perspective, reactive behavior, victimhood, judgement, living in the present, releasing the past, visualization, freedom to choose, and taking responsibility. In the 25 years since it was first published, LOVE IS LETTING GO OF FEAR continues to change lives with its frank, thought-provoking, and powerful response to overcoming life’s greatest challenges.

I purchased this book 4 years ago, after a car accident left me in chronic pain. At that time, I quite honestly didn't know how to handle the loss of my career, my hobbies & my independance - a lot to deal with all at once! Needless to say, I was scared beyond belief!!! Plus, since the accident was caused by another person who just wasn't paying attention, I had a seething anger toward this person who I didn't even know (and I still don't even know her name!).
Back then, someone recommended this book to me, and it was a tremendous help! The first time I read it, I just wasn't ready to let go of the negative feelings I was harboring - but a couple of years later I read it again, and it has made such a difference in my life!
In a nut shell, Dr. Jampolsky discusses the concepts of love and fear - defining fear as the absence of love. He shows how, in order for us to live a life filled with love, we have to let go of our fears - and to do this, we need to get rid of our need to analyze & contemplate the negative experiences of our past and the potential for negative events to occur in our future - we need to let go of the "what ifs". Stop waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Much of the info. included in this book is drawn from "A Course in Miracles", although you don't need to have an understanding of "the course" to gain from the insights in this book - I still haven't gotten around to reading "the course" myself.
If you like Marianne Williamson's writing, you'll definately enjoy this book by Dr. Jampolsky. |

If you are searching for a belief system you can actually believe, this is your book. It simplifies and distills life's emotions down to love and fear- with fear defined as the absence of love. The book challenges the reader to recognize that his or her "reality" is actually based on skewed perceptions, often colored by negative past experiences. The good news is that Dr. Jampolsky provides an actionable, step-by-step process to undo some of our misperceptions and need for control, and to begin to experience more peace.
I have found myself less judgemental and more accepting of myself and others based on the simple but profound message this book has to offer.

We all have our own past experiences, value systems, and personal opinions. To the best of our abilities, we utilize the tools we currently have to make choices and decisions. These choices and decisions are made not only in our own self interest, but also for the benefit and happiness of those we care about. To be concerned for ourselves and those around us is certainly normal, and I believe a natural part of human nature. In, "Love Is Letting Go Of Fear", Gerald Jampolsky suggests we take another look at the many possibilities for choices we can make regarding our lives and choose only one: peace of mind.
According to Jampolsky, our past guilt and fear interfere with our present reality because we spend much of our time worrying about a mix of what has already happened in our lives, and what has yet to occur. As we dwell on our past and consider our concerns for the future, we deny our only real opportunity for lasting harmony: choosing peace of mind in the present moment.
Admittedly, achieving peace of mind as our single and highest goal in life is not easily accomplished. Gerald Jampolsky shares many of his own personal stories throughout the book about working with these issues and keeping peace of mind in the forefront as the main objective. In order to accomplish peace of mind, Jampolsky points out that forgiveness must be our single function.
You cannot come away from this book without realizing it was written from the depths of Gerald Jampolsky's heart. He points us tenderly in the right direction as he tells us about achieving peace of mind through forgiveness, and gently reminds us that the responsibility is our own. Jampolsky assures us that as we set aside our fear, limitations, and judgements we can discover our true essence- Love.

One afternoon my emotions were at a rock bottom. I needed help. Out of all of the books available in a Unity Library/Bookstore, this one drew my attention. I took it to a quiet restaurant. I had about 5 hours between church and time to go to work. Within 2 hours I had read the book and found a new way of looking at everything that had me so down. (A previously good relationship had gotten very unpleasant and was close to changing drastically. My financial resources were very low and I didn't know whether I was going to be able to pay my rent when it came due.) I realized that by using the principles presented in this book, I could, in an instant, go from sadness to joy, just by changing my perception of any situation.
I notice that many of the other reviewers say, "This book changed my life." I am one more person saying the same thing. If you're ready for real help to feel better, this will give it to you. I strongly recommend this book to you if you are hurting for any reason and if you don't want to hurt anymore.
