This is another of the Boynton books that is short enough to hold even the littlest guy's attention, and begs for interaction. Even children who are not yet speaking may find themselves howling at the moon with the doggies. A funny, diverse set of doggie shapes, sizes, and personalities are depicted in Boynton's famous style, with sturdy and colorful pages of adorable dogs and the sounds they make. This is a great book for all ages. Great for identifying dogs and the sounds they make as well as for learning how to count. The illustrations are really cute and the different dog sounds are great variety.

I bought this for my son on a whim one day. I read it in the store, thought it was really cute and it made me laugh. I didn't even think about all the barking "styles" until I got home and read it to my son, he giggles at my barks and our dog howls with me whenever I get to the howling page. The dog comes into the room every time I read this to my son and hangs out till I'm done, so I guess you could say we all love this one. |

This little book has all a baby/toddler likes: it is small and so easy to handle by children, it has hard cover and hard pages so it does not rip off, it is beautiful and SUPER funny. My 16 month old daughter loves looking through the different types of dogs and 'barking tones'. I completely recommend it. |

We got this book for my two-year-old, because she loves doggies and kitties. It was a good call. Boynton's books are all so short, cute, and fun to read-just the right length for the 1-to-2 year old attention span. This one basically counts up through 10 dogs and their various barking styles. My daughter loves to participate in the reading, by counting and repeating each bark. She *loves* it. |
