This is an amazing book written by a true man of God. This book isn't a very technical Bible livign book that has very in depth hard to understand concenpts, but rather it is a literary work that you can relate to your everyday life. Throughout this book Joel uses many stories and situations from his life and the lives of people he has known to demonstrate his principles for living your best life now. I have had the pleasure of seeing Joel Osteen live at the Boston Garden and hope to be able to travel to Texas one day and see him at Lakewood. I recommend this book to all Christians. Your life will truly be changed if you learn to implement his 7 steps into your life. I was blessed by this book and I hope you will be too.

Recently when visiting my in-laws, I noticed this book on their coffee table. I read through it and it reminded me of a mixture of Norman Vincent Peale & Robert Schuller (positive thinking gurus) combined with some Oral Roberts, a little bit of Robert Tilton plus any other of those "name-it-and-claim-it" and "give-and-it-will-be-given-unto-you" TV "faith" preachers from decades past.

As a devout believer and follower of Jesus Christ, books like this deeply sadden me since it sends the message that Christianity is about finding personal success through wealth and not about glorifying God, seeking first His Kingdom, repenting from sin, submitting to the Lordship of Christ in obedience and going through the never-ending process of sanctification (purifying and growing) to be more like Christ. That's how one finds real joy! Don't get me wrong. There's nothing wrong with wealth or being happy, but those are false idols if they are higher priorities than submitting to God. What's sadder is that when people buy into this philosphy and hit hard times emotionally or financially, they typically become very disillusioned about God.

My advice is to save your money and spend it on a good study Bible and find the real truth.
