This was one of my favorite books as a girl. Every 8-12 year-old girl would adore this book, and identify with Mandy and her struggles. I fell in love with Mandy's world, and was so disappointed that there was not a sequel. I still have the book, and now I read it to my infant son, and hope that one day he will enjoy Mandy's adventures as much as I did. An absolute must-read! |

It was the best book I read. I could not put it down. There is a girl named Mandy that finds a little house and that house will get her in lots of trouble. Mandy has to try to keep it to her self but it is harder then it looks. I would say it is wroth every dime you put in it. I have read it many times. I had a lot of my friends read it and they loved it to. One of them I had a hard time getting my book back. |

I read this book as a lonely, sad child. I often imagined my own secret shell cottage and handsome prince waiting to rescue me. I always thought it was special that the book was dedicated to me. Today, I read this book to my eight children. It has inspired a love of gardening, shell collecting and nature reverence in us all. I can't imagine a more perfect book. |

I must have read this book 20 times if I read it once when I was younger. And now my daughter has read and loved it also. Not often mentioned among youth literature and yet has never left my top 3 favorites of all time. Fantastic, beautiful story. I always wished Ms. Andrews Edwards had continued Mandy's story in more books. Treat yourself or a young book lover to a great story. |

This heart warming story features a delightful orphan girl who had always longed to find a place to call home. She finds a cottage right outside the boundaries of the orphanage. Now there is only one thing missing. Mandy needs a family. Little does she know that love is just around the corner. |

Mandy is a lovely tale to which all children and adults can relate. Though most of us have not lived in an orphanage, everyone can empathize with Mandy's search for love. My 7 year olds loved the book and we could hardly put it down. They wanted to know how long we had to wait before we could read it again! This is a story my children will never forget and will look forward to reading to their children. I highly recommend it for both children and adults. |
