I'd say this is one of the most surprising books I've ever read in many ways. First, it's very clear in the way it presents the ideas. It uses everyday language to illustrate what I used to think were difficult spiritual themes, but now they make perfect sense to me. Second, the humor is very refreshing and helps to make the whole message more approachable. I've seen Gary Renard in person and he's the most unassuming, unpretentious and egoless teacher I've encountered so far. This book may also surprise some people with its street language, but I can see that there's a method and much reasoning behind the approach. I highly recommend this book. |

The Disappearance of the Universe is near the top of my list for must-read books. It is engaging, lively, and fun to read, with a good dose of humor. So many books on the spiritual life are tedious and heavy. Not this one. Don't let this mislead you into thinking there is nothing of substance here. There is plenty that is profoundly important to our spiritual growth! Whether after reading the book the reader believes that the author was visited by a couple of ascended masters, disincarnate spirits, or "angels," seems entirely beside the point and of little or no actual consequence. Even if Gary Renard has used these two figures as a "literary device," the fact that the teachings are absolutely faithful to A Course in Miracles and coincide perfectly with the most salient features of that curriculum is what is most important. It is refreshing to read a book on such a weighty subject that does not take itself too seriously, and I unreservedly recommend this book to others interested in their spiritual advancement, especially those who might be somewhat put off by the sheer weight and volume of A Course in Miracles itself. |

I have been studying metaphysical teachings for over 20 years, from Tibetan Buddism to Esoteric Christianity, and many others. I attempted to study A Course in Miracles about 13 years ago and was just overwhelmed by the language, and subsequently shelved it. Disappearance changed all that, and literally turned every spiritual truth I thought I knew on it's head. There is nothing like this out there today, and I feel to the core of my being that this is the essential spiritual truth of all truths. I have now been able to go and study that dusty copy of A Course in Miracles with clear under- standing and truly miraculous spiritual growth through the application of TRUE forgiveness in my own life. Read this and be prepared for your spiritual growth to go into hyper drive-this is the "it" we are seeking! |
