What an empowering book for little ones! By matching their knowledge of colors and clothing items, even toddlers can "read" this book! My son "read" this book to his grandpa when he was two, and was So proud of himself: he could read a book just like the grown-ups in his life. The other animals are getting dressed and doing just fine, but the silly turkey keeps getting it wrong, resulting in an "oops" at the end of each two-page spread. Kids love anticipating the "oops!" This was the first book where my son really understood and was tickled by the humor. Be aware that the final "oops" takes a little more explanation, though. |

My two-year-old daughter and I love this story. I read the story; she supplies the "Oops!" We both laugh at the turkey who can't seem to get his clothes on right. But I was amazed last night when she read the whole book to me, cover to cover! I know she's reading the illustrations, not the words, but it was still a delight. The words are so simple and the pictures are so clear that she finally has a book that she can read to me. And despite its simplicity, the book is still funny every time we re-read it. |
